If you take this course, you will be graded just like Stanford University students, and you can get a certificate matching your skills to the Stanford grading curve. Though online, it is a serious class: 8 homework assignments, 2 timed exams and many hard deadlines. To pass this class, expect to work at least 10 hours per week - Stanford students do all this! This free, online Artificial Intelligence course will be taught by Sebastian Thrun, professor of Computer Science at Stanford University, and Peter Norvig, author of the AI leading textbook Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach used in over 1000 universities worldwide.
The course introduces a wealth of topics in Artificial Intelligence, teaches basic methods in AI, and conveys enthusiasm for the field. Students passing this course should have a broad overview of the field and be proficient in basic methods of Artificial Intelligence, which has emerged as one of the most impactful disciplines in science and technology.
The online enrollment ends September 10th, 2011. The course is 10 weeks long and consists of approximately 20 lectures. While this course is being offered online, it is also taught at Stanford University as an intro-level class on Artificial Intelligence, starting September 27, 2011. The online class runs from October 2nd through December 16th. For the online version of the class, the lecturers ensure identical grading criteria and will offer the same handouts, free of charge.
