Here’s what appears to be a very good article about using AIML, complete with detailed instructions for setting it up and running it under Linux. I haven’t used AIML myself, but thought you folks might like to read it.

It makes a refreshing change to read an article actually in support of AIML instead of the usual “it’s a child’s toy use something else” type articles we usually see from people who have barely used AIML.

To these people I say, would you consider a piano a child’s toy because you can only play Jingle Bells using 1 finger? Try listening to a concert pianist before writing it off as useless.

Scotty from Star Trek, TOS—“The right tool for the right job”.  AIML DOES “fit the bill” in a lot of cases.
