You still have time.
The deadline for the Chatterbox Challenge is today (March 15, 2011) at 9 o’clock PM Eastern Time, leaving only a few hours left for you to win $1,000 in prize money. Public voting starts tomorrow, offering your bot the sort of exposure and promotion that you’d get for paid advertising… for free.
With the loosening of the rules, and now permitting all ALML bots (ALICE clones) it was anticipated that there would be a greater number of entries than there are at present. That means your chances for fame, glory, and cash are even better than you might imagine.
There aren’t many contests like this one available to botmasters, and none where new or beginner bots can stand next to those that have been worked on for years, and be judged on a level playing field. The same short list of questions will be asked of each bot.
This isn’t the Turing Test. Your bot doesn’t need encyclopedic knowledge, or to be able to reconstruct Jeopardy questions. A fancy appearance isn’t a requirement, and there’s no entry fee. You stand nothing to lose except a chance at the $1,000 top prize.
