Left and right parentheses being removed from URLs
 
 

In This post, Richard J supplied a link to a wikipedia page that has parentheses in the URL. However, when you click on that link, it takes you to nearly the same URL, but without those parentheses in it. Thinking it was just a typo, I tried to edit his post, inserting the parentheses back into the URL, only to have them disappear again. I tried both with directly editing the URL, as Richard had entered it, and by creating a full URL tag in BB code. The results for both methods was identical.

Now I’m certain that this is likely due, as I had mentioned in a reply to Richard’s post, to some sort of hacker prevention protocol that’s in place, but if it is, then it’s either broken or misguided. Unfortunately, I don’t have a suggestion on fixing this one. :(

I’ve seen this before, when creating links to Wikipedia. Thanks for reporting this, we’l have to solve it. Keep you posted!
