English description:
Harumi is a programmable chatbot working in pair with open office, ready to use in french. It is available for the public since summer 2010. You have to edit some part of its memory in order to use it in english or any other language. It was programmed in Delphi and is able to learn from the user.
French description:
Harumi brain is very light at the beginning, almost empty in fact. When you write a sentence, Harumi ask you what you mean. The second sentence is then linked to the first one, except if the second sentence reminds her something else, in which case Harumi will link the first sentence to it. With time, this simple algorithm produces good results. Harumi will tend to have your personnality. Nevertheless, Harumi was not only built as a chat experiment for turing test. From the beginning of the development, Harumi is a usefull program : You can ask her for your appointments, phone numbers, adress, internet url, files repertory.... all of those informations are stocked in its mind, a file called memory.ods You can ask her to translate words from english to french, or to seach for a file on a drive. It is possible for her to remind you things you have to do, or to record your feelings and randomly remind you sentences linked to your bad or good mood. She's able to execute a program, to give you your ip and emac adress or to calculate an operation. As you can see, many windows functions can be replaced by Harumi. A dialog simulation is written on my site in order to know how to use Harumi. Thanks to help me upgrade Harumi and to send me feedback. You are free to use and edit Harumi as soon as you don't sell it.
Hi, I'm the author of Harumi's chatbot. I would be glad to have some feedback in order to improve the program. Since Harumi works in french in the current version, I think french people will have a better judgement than foreigners. At least for the moment... A few modifications will be enough to make it works in english. |
Bonjour Jean-François, effectivement ... BAD REQUEST (003) Fichier inexistant En travaux ? |
Can you build her in English? I like the idea but I cannot speak French. Also, I would be willing to pay a small amount for it if it was pre setup for me. Lastly, your link is bad. Please update the link. Thanks! |
- I need an english Harumi. Has anyone translated it yet? If no, I could try to do it although I don't speak french. - I`d like to have Harumi`s delphi source code and maybe I could help develop it. Is it possible? In the present moment I am learning how to use IBM Via Voice and eSpeak to speeach synthesis and speak recognition. I think Harumi is the perfect IA to link this and maybe have a good (and pretty) virtual assistant who can do chatting interaction and virtual assistance. Once more, please, can I have the delphi source code? I am a IT student and would like to learn more on how it was done. Thank You |
...about the 404 issue a little google search and Harumi can be found at: http://jeffelson.e-monsite.com/ Enjoy! |
Here is a working link for Harumi, you can download from here. I improve the software day after day, that's why old links don't work http://jeffelson.e-monsite.com/ |
I'm very happy of your comments. I will release an english version of Harumi in February 2011, eventually sooner. Nevertheless, I don't want to give the source code because I want to keep the hand on how it works. Any source code release will happen only if I abandon the project. If Harumi becomes one day a professionnal application, of course I would like to work with a team that could add great functions like: - Face recognition by webcam - Voice recognition - Speech synthesis - Image recogntion With a good team of engineers/programmers, I think it's possible to create an AI that would replace in part keyboard/screentouch/mouse interfaces and looks a bit like a real person. That would be amazing, I see this as the next numeric revolution. We have reached a peak with graphical interfaces, we now need to move on. Anyway... For the moment, I just have fun programming, so my plan is just to enjoy doing that, even if I don't get a penny. By the way, I didn't plan initially to realease Harumi, I created it as a kind of sexy organizer for my job and also because I was always fascinated by artificial intelligence. It's only when I saw my wife using it and saying sometimes "she" for a software that I thought it could interest other people. Regards, Jean-François BATTISTINI |
well if you release an english verion in febuary that would be really cool because my birthday is on the 6th of febuary and I would really enjoy trying to help you find bugs or gliches with "Her" programming so that you may locate and fix them. I live in canada and i tried to learn french in school but i utterly failed. |
@Jean-Francois, I've just changed the download link (the previous one gave a 404). If you register on this website, I can make you the author of this page which will enable you to maintain the above text yourself. Erwin |
Thanks for posting this. Very nice recap of some of the key points in my talk. I hope you and your readers find it useful! Thanks again |
Thank you Erwin, I just passed the 1'000 visitors yesterday. I am working each week on Harumi and new versions of her are uploaded regulary on my site. This week-end a new version will be uploaded with : - various bugs correction - Harumi plays a lot better chess (I can't win any more ;p) - Harumi is able to checks files of her memory. In case you install her on another computer, she'll tell you what are the missing files. Older versions : - by saying "read c:\text\text.txt", Harumi try to do a summary by picking up sentences containing "interesting" words. Those words are editable on the 6th sheet of her memory. - Recognizing a picture. Harumi tryes to find the picture that looks like the one she has in memory. It works only with personnal picture in bmp versions and with the same size. Moreover, the algorithm is based on histogram colors so it's far from professionnals tools. Anyway, if you have two photos taken from different angles quite close from each other, Harumi will "recognize" it. - Multi alarms : Say Harumi "At 9h00 check my mails" then "in 10 minutes, I must stop the oven" and finally "at 21:00 launch TV" and she will do those tasks in the right order at the right moment. - Chess game : She give lot of comments during a game - Chat : Say "I like cheese" She will tell you "You like cheese?". If you say "yes", she proposes to you to memorize this information. -If you say "When I say google, go on http://www.google.fr", she will memorize the conditions. -Simulation of discussion : User : My taylor is a rich man. Harumi : Ok User : my brother in law is a rich man Harumi : I will remember User : he lives in USA. Harumi : Ok. User : his phone is 1010 Harumi : I see. User : Thank you Harumi : you welcome. User : do you have the phone of a rich man? Harumi : do you mean your taylor or your brother in law? User : my brother in law. Harumi : It's 1010. User : How old are you? Harumi : I don't know. User : You were born on 6th of July 2010. Harumi : thank you. User : now tell me how old are you? Harumi : I was born on 6th of July 2010. User : great Harumi : great? User : you seem to understand Harumi : Ok. I'm happy for that. User : why? Harumi : I seem to understand Here you see how Harumi works. No intelligence here, of course, but simply linking datas in a way that is quite natural. Smileys like are considered as positive stimulus, :( as negative ones. Questions like "why?" are forcing Harumi to ask her the same question, like a self feedback. |
I forgot to add that the simulation actually works in french only, so I just translated the simulation to share the possibilities of Harumi. An english version of Harumi will hopefully be online in february. |
Huh. Something is going wrong with this for me. I try to run it, and i get an infinite error loop? am i doing something wrong? |
ok ok i would love to use her i think i have figure out the integer error, here is what i got so far the integer error only happens if the text entrey area is left blank, from what i can tell is that the integer error results from a cell(open office)look up of cells that have not been created mainly in the 3,000 and above.i belive it to be auto correct error, on the other hand when holding enter to close all the errors i get a memroy access error. if you can and please update me by e-mail |
c'est encore moi! si vous pouvez m'envoyer un courrier .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) |
The new version simply gives an Invalid Argument error everytime Harumi tries to respond. Also the English database seems to be out of date, though I got the same error in French. |
