The Chatterbox Challenge (CBC) 2009 is an online bot contest held every year since 2001.  This year was different, every bot showed great skills during the contest and the finalists were even closer at score! Jeeney AI managed to pull the “Best Overall Bot in 2009” title.

There were 20 bots participating in CBC 2009, 10 bots made the finals, 4 bots were the winners and 1 bot won the title of “Best Overall Bot in 2009”. The Turing tests and questions were harder this year, however many bots managed to go through it with talented answers that definitely broke the difficulty of the questions.

Bildgesmythe won the “Best Overall Bot” title the last two years (2007-2008), but this year Jeeney AI broke this rule and got the title for the 1st time! Artemis also did a great job and got the 2nd place. Although it’s a desktop chatbot with a little small file size, but it wowed us during the judging period. Alice got the 3rd place, she also made higher ranks than in previous years.

Unfortunately Bildgesmythe wasn’t ranked this year as the bot didn’t do well in the 2nd round of questions, however in the 1st round he made the 2nd place after Jeeney AI!
In other categories of CBC 2009, the public voting chosen Artemis to be the most popular bot and Suzette to be the 10th bot in the final round. Though she was in the 6th place, she won the “Best New Bot in 2009” title.
